Syracuse running back Will Nixon will miss the rest of the 2024 season, SU head coach Fran Brown announced on his Thursday night radio show. Nixon suffered a Lisfranc injury in the Orange’s win over Holy Cross.

“He had surgery already, so he’s already back wanting to move and things of that nature,” Brown said Thursday. “We’ll see him next spring, but right now it’s Yasin Willis and LeQuint Allen (Jr.).”

Nixon, a redshirt junior, transferred to Syracuse following two seasons at Nebraska then two at Washington. The running back is the son of SU offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon. In his brief time with the Orange, Nixon struggled to stay on the field.

He missed the Stanford game before returning against Holy Cross. After an injury against the Crusaders, he appeared on the sideline with a boot on his left foot and with the assistance of a scooter in SU’s win over then-No. 25 UNLV.

Across three games played, Nixon was used in both the run and passing game, recording 76 rushing yards on 19 attempts while catching 4 receptions for 44 yards. With Nixon out, Syracuse will rely more on Allen Jr. and Willis.
